Things have been a little quiet on the blog front recently, but only because we have been very busy providing fabulous Indie Rock and Pop wedding entertainment up and down the county! It's certainly been - fun, but busy!
As you might expect, with the increasing frequency of functions in this period, we have garnered many more great stories to tell. There was last weekend's wedding, which was great! Really enthusiastic crowd and everyone enjoying themselves - what could be better? Well, only the fact that the Bride and Groom (82 and 76 respectively!) were on the dance floor ALL night! As the saying goes, with greater age comes greater responsibility, or in this case, greater energy than everyone else! It was a wonderful occassion to be a part of.
Another great story was when we played a venue with a very acute sound limiter. With the addition of an electric kit, we happily reduced our volume enough to keep within the limit. All was going swimmingly for both our sets until the last song, where the crowd was singing along to Mr. Brightside with such gusto (not heard before, or since!), that the sound limiter peaked and the power was shut down. However, this did not deter anyone and the song was finished by the crowd acappella, as loud as a song from the football terraces and just as emotive! It's great when apparent adversitied actually turn into a success story!
However, with the fact that we are playing more gigs, it also means it's all the more important not to forget stuff (have you read our previous blog about such an experience?!)..... especially not guitar straps! Picture the scene: we had just set up the stage, everything in order, Sam reaches for his guitar... no strap! Uh oh. What could we go? Sitting on a chair isn't the best look. We set off for the local Tesco, hoping that we can make our own strap out of bits anbd bobs. In the end, a £3 belt and a lot of string did the job. It actually worked pretty well after all! Picture is included for proof, however we have a patent pending on the design, so no copying!
We can't wait to gather more stories....there's never a dull moment when 8-Ball are about! So if you'd like us to entertain you and your guests, give us a call and we'll see you on the dance floor! In the mean time, see you next time when we interview Alex in another installment of 'meet the band!'
